As a holistic healing practitioner, (Mindfulness and ThetaHealing), I have been privileged to witness the transformative power of holistic techniques first-hand. To share my experience with a broader audience, I have crafted a two-part series that addresses the most frequently asked questions I’ve encountered. This is the second part titled: ThetaHealing for Beginners: A Guide to Emotional and Spiritual Wellness; you can read Part 1 here. As mentioned in previous blog, part two will focus on the ThetaHealing Technique. Let us be on this journey of self-discovery and healing together.

Brain Waves

Before moving towards the focus of this blog which is ThetaHealing, it is important to know the different types of brainwaves as in this healing modality we connect to the Creator using a Meditation road map and witness healings through the activation of our Theta Brain wave.

. There are four categories of our brainwaves.

  1. Beta Brain Wave: When the brain is actively engaged in mental activities it generates beta waves. They are involved in conscious thought and logical thinking. Having the right amount of beta waves allow us to focus.[1]
  2. Alpha brainwaves are slower than Beta. When we sit down to rest, or meditate our brain is often in alpha state. Alpha waves are present in awake, healthy adults when they rest with their eyes closed, but they are absent during sleep and when the individual focuses on a particular task.[2]
  3. Theta Brainwaves: It is a relaxed mental state that is slower than alpha. When we begin to daydream, the brain is often in theta brain state. Up to the age of 7 children are mostly in a Theta brain state. It is a state where tasks become so automatic that we can mentally disengage from them.
  4. Delta Brainwaves: The final brainwave is Delta. Low frequency waves. It is the state of deep sleep. When we go to bed and read for a few minutes before attempting to sleep, we are likely to be in low beta, when we put down that book, turn off the lights and close our eyes, our brainwaves descend from beta to alpha then to theta and finally when we fall asleep to delta.

What is ThetaHealing?

Now that we are aware of brainwaves, let’s talk about What is ThetaHealing. If this is the first time you are hearing about it, I would like to welcome you to the wellness journey which enables us to break our own limiting patterns.

ThetaHealing is a spiritual meditation technique. It is mostly categorized as an Energy healing modality which is spiritual in nature.  By activating the Theta brain waves through meditation and focused prayer, Theta Healing helps to create a lifestyle which enables us to re-discover ourselves. It is a training method for our mind, body and spirit that works at a cellular level and allows us to clear our limiting beliefs.

We are always connected to the Creator, and through the ThetaHealing® meditation technique we are reminded of our connection to the Creator and everything that is around us. It is a powerful energy healing technique where we get to co-create our life by changing our beliefs that no longer serves us. It helps us in healing our internal prejudices, regrets, rejections, resentments, fears, and replacing them with positive beliefs so that we may live more harmoniously, and can lead a peaceful life.

ThetaHealing: A Teacher’s Perspective

What exactly is ThetaHealing? I remember, the first time I was asked about ThetaHealing, my response was based on the definition from ThetaHealing book and I wasn’t really satisfied by the way I explained it. Not that there is anything wrong with what is given in the book, I felt uneasy that I did not explain it in the light of my own experience. That’s the beauty of human mind. As we understand our self, we evolve and the way we look at things change as well.

We have the power and intelligence to change what does not work well for us. I like to explain things in an easy and simple way, without using any fancy words. So over the period of years, I started refining definition of ThetaHealing based on my own experience with:

1. ThetaHealing students
2. ThetaHealing clients and
3. Myself

Therefore, based on my understanding and experience with ThetaHealing, today I would define it as a technique to help individuals find a reason behind their behavior (that is no longer working for them) and then move towards transforming the root cause of it.

Of all the options, why choose ThetaHealing?

This energy healing spiritual modality is all about working on inner self by embracing who we truly are. As you continue self-healing, you can change your life in different ways. And it is a fact that there are multiple self-healing modalities out there. So when students ask me, of all the options why they should choose ThetaHealing, I tell them, whether you are looking for a solution to your health challenges, or for emotional and spiritual growth, with ThetaHealing you will find an opportunity to transform your perspective and experience of life. You will experience an expansion in your wisdom, insight, self-confidence, and that keeps you from getting stuck. Having said that, ThetaHealing is not magic. You have to consciously choose to do the work and be the energy you want to you attract in life with awareness.

I don’t like to sugarcoat anything. I believe in offering clarity and being genuine with those who are ready to invest with me, therefore when I was asked by a student “How can a single course change my life?”, my response was straightforward. I told him, and my exact words were: “A single course can NEVER change your life. In-fact I am telling you It WILL NOT change your life.”

He was obviously surprised by my response, and asked me if the course is not going to change his life then what’s the use of enrolling in the seminar.

That’s the main point. I feel, all of us attach meaning to “external factors” in our life.

‘When I have $20k more every month then I will be happy.’

‘When I buy a new car, then I will feel satisfied.”

‘Completing this course is going to change my life forever.’

When we base our happiness, and our success, on external elements then we get attached to them. In doing this, we forget the most important thing. The power to change is WITHIN us. The power to be happy is INSIDE us. So yes, a single ThetaHealing session will not change your life and yet a single ThetaHealing seminar may be all you need to change your perspective.

Confused? Don’t be!

ThetaHealing + You + Your actions/choices + Creator = Results

I have observed and experienced that when we give our self the permission to change, and allow our self  to embrace the teachings of this modality, only then we can feel the real benefit of it. However, even after taking multiple sessions or seminars, if we are stuck with old patterns, and not ready to let go of the stories then even thousand courses/books cannot change our life.

As a teacher, I always tell my students, when you practice what you learn in the seminars, only then you can witness changes. In my opinion, ThetaHealing is one of the easiest self-help, spiritual modality out there, and practice is the key. If you are not ready to change your beliefs, work on yourself, take action and believe in the miracles of universe then a single course will just be a course. Nothing more.

When we question the root of our beliefs, connect to the Creator, meditate, build a connection to the universe, do self-belief work, dig deeper to find out who we are, take action, only then we can understand the true essence of this modality.

How Do I know if Theta Healing is right for me?

Almost all the ThetaHealers offer a short clarity call option to see if you both are an energetic match for each other. People who benefit from this modality are:

  1. Those who are seekers of personal growth, looking to improve their lives, emotional energy and find inner peace often find ThetaHealing to be a valuable tool in their journey.
  2. Individuals looking for alternative healing options: that offers non-invasive approach to healing.
  3. People facing emotional or physical challenges and looking to start their wellness journey.
  4. People interested in a spiritual practice that can help individuals connect with their inner selves.

This is just a general overview and the people attracted to Theta Healing may vary widely based on various personal, cultural, and spiritual backgrounds. If you feel any of this resonates with you, then ThetaHealing might be the right fit for your needs. ThetaHealing has a strong community of practitioners who support each other and share their experiences, making it appealing to people who are looking for a sense of belonging.

How Does ThetaHealing Work?

ThetaHealing is spiritual in nature. In ThetaHealing sessions, the practitioner/healer/consultant follows a road map to connect to the Creator of All that is. Through this connection, it is believed that the mind of the practitioner goes into a Theta brain state. Sometimes the healer guides the client to go in the Theta state through the mediation, while some healers prefer to witness this connection for their clients themselves. It is up to the ThetaHealer how they prefer to conduct the session.

ThetaHealing can be termed as complementary to the traditional talk therapy as it takes a holistic approach. As an integrative approach to traditional talk therapy, during a session, the Theta Healer connects to the energy of the Creator of All that is and activates Theta Brain wave through a meditation. When the brain is in a Theta state, it is deep state of relaxation that makes it easier to talk to the subconscious mind to address the limiting beliefs and patterns that create blockages in life.

: Client Practitioner holding hands witnessing healing in a THETAHEALING SESSION

After the meditation and activation of Theta brainwave, the practitioner may begin by scanning the client’s body and to intuitively connect to them. Sometimes during the session, practitioners prefer to use a belief testing technique called “Muscle Testing”. This takes us into the subconscious mind of the client and helps in uncovering their limiting patterns by bringing into conscious awareness the subconscious beliefs. This is combined with a digging session and some belief downloads. During a digging session, the practitioner works on four levels of client’s belief systems: Core, Genetic, History and Soul.

By asking the right questions in a ThetaHealing digging session, the practitioner can intuitively and with the support of the Creator, pull a negative belief that is no longer serving the client and release it, replace it with a positive belief. This is done through the process of giving downloads to the client.

What are Beliefs?

You want to have an impact on the world? It all begins with your belief system.

An idea that we consider as true is a belief. Our beliefs form our thoughts; thoughts form our feelings or emotions. Based on our emotions we take actions. All our actions have a direct impact on our character and personality building. We form our self-identity based on our actions, in-addition to this, people around us starts to view us based on our actions. All this leads us towards creating our world and destiny.

Our beliefs are on 4 levels – Core, History, Genetic and Soul Levels.

  • The beliefs that we adopt during our childhood are core level beliefs.
  • The beliefs that are part of our collective consciousness, past life are a part of History level beliefs.
  • All our beliefs that we inherit from our ancestors are called Genetic level beliefs and
  • if one belief is on multiple levels, then we call it a soul level belief.

All our beliefs are stacked on top of each other. The older your belief is, the longer it can take to shift it, or to release it from your system

This does not mean that it is impossible to change or shift our beliefs. We are always changing- even if the change is subtle. If you are wondering how, then think of the impact news channels have on our mind. With repeated consumption of similar kind of negative news programs- slowly and gradually majority of us start to change our thinking.

When our brains become full of negative information, this has an impact on our belief system, and the lens through which we view our life changes. For instance, at work, if we receive negative feedback about our performance then our brain gets stuck focusing on the single piece of criticism, and we will most likely not benefit from the praise that we might receive later in the day. The negative has a very real and lasting effect on us.

So when we see things that are wrong, disturbing, or sad, it is helpful to look beyond the circumstances that created them. They are symptoms of a deeper problem: the belief system that we have.
Start with yourself. Change the belief system, and you may inspire the world to change.

Every one of us has limiting beliefs

Our belief systems can contain many limiting beliefs that we adopt during childhood, which we internalize as truth. They are called limiting because they limit us and keep us stuck. These core beliefs shape our perspective of the world and become ingrained in our subconscious. For example, thinking that the reason for our parents’ divorce is because of our own inadequacies, or believing that if we were only better in some way, we would receive the love and attention we desire from our parents.

The limiting beliefs that are ingrained in our subconscious mind by the age of 7 can prevent us from experiencing all the wonderful things that we desire in life. They are usually negative beliefs that we perceive as truth. And interestingly, we are not even aware of our own subconscious limiting programs that are in charge of our daily life 95% of the time!

What is Muscle Testing?

In ThetaHealing, one of the ways to identify limiting beliefs is to perform “muscle testing” which is based on applied kinesiology. Muscle or Energy testing, tests our sub conscious beliefs by testing the body’s electromagnetic field. We are surrounded by our own personal force field, and the insides of our bodies contain electrical generators, which they use to send signals through our body. This creates our electromagnetic field.

Based on our emotional thoughts and feelings, our body’s electromagnetic field changes. Let’s say If you’re confused and unhappy, the electromagnetic field of your body may weaken; when you are excited the electromagnetic field will be strong.

The focus of ThetaHealing is on discovering the root causes of our situations/challenges, therefore, with muscle testing, we use body’s muscle reactions to find the limiting beliefs.

Muscle Testing taps into the subconscious mind to gain insight into our physical, mental, and emotional beliefs. The technique involves asking a “yes” or “no” question and measuring the body’s electromagnetic field response, allowing us to gain access to the knowledge and understanding held within our subconscious mind.

Based on the topic of the session, the practitioner intuitively comes up with beliefs for muscle testing, the client has to repeat the belief statements out aloud. If the belief is true for the person, the energy flow remains strong, allowing muscles to retain strength and the body sways forward. If we make a statement that is false as per our subconscious beliefs, then our electromagnetic field might weaken and sends the same signal to our muscles, in that case the body sways backwards.

This is just one method of muscle testing for belief in ThetaHealing. It is important to note, not every practitioner performs muscle testing in their sessions. However, every Instructor teaches this technique as part of the official course material.

What are Downloads in ThetaHealing?

In ThetaHealing, a “download” refers to a piece of information, understanding, or feeling that a practitioner receives during a Theta Healing session. These downloads are believed to be related to physical, emotional, or spiritual healing, and can take many forms. They can be a new understanding of a concept, a feeling of peace, or a specific visualization or affirmation. These downloads are believed to be a powerful tool in ThetaHealing and can be used to help the practitioner access the universal consciousness and facilitate the healing process.

According to Theta Healing website: Downloads give us the ability to start creating a new reality. When we download feelings, we are witnessing the formation of cell receptors in our bodies to receive new emotions or feelings that we want to co-create.

It is important to remember that ThetaHealing downloads alone do not change the beliefs that are keeping you stuck in patterns, that is what belief work does. What a download is designed to do is offer us a new feeling, a new perspective, and a new way of being. When we download a feeling, that is exactly what we get. Downloads are always used with belief work digging, to experience the true essence of ThetaHealing technique.

How to Learn ThetaHealing?

In the early days of ThetaHealing, students would travel across borders to attend in-person seminars, eager to learn the transformative teachings. However, as the world underwent significant changes due to the 2019 pandemic, a monumental shift occurred—the ThetaHealing headquarters, led by the visionary Vianna Stibal, introduced online teaching for the very first time in its history.

This decision completely changed the way ThetaHealing seminars were conducted, opening doors of opportunity and accessibility to individuals worldwide. The ability to learn and grow from the comfort of one’s own home became a game changer for countless individuals seeking to embrace the healing and wisdom of ThetaHealing.

Now, anyone can easily connect with a certified instructor through the official website. There, they can discover instructors who are dedicated to guiding and empowering students throughout their personal development journey.

Whether you are a seasoned practitioner or a curious beginner, this shift to online seminars has removed geographical barriers, allowing individuals from every corner of the globe to become a Certified ThetaHealing Practitioner. The opportunity to dive into the teachings, gain invaluable insights, and explore the potential for personal and spiritual growth is now within reach like never before.

Anyone can learn and practice ThetaHealing for their personal and professional development. You can begin by reading the ThetaHealing foundation books that are easily available online. Another way is to learn the technique with a ThetaHealing certified Instructor. Since the pandemic, ThetaHealing can now be taught online, therefore you just have to check the international database of instructors, and intuitively choose your instructor to begin your Thetahealing journey.

In ThetaHealing practitioner classes, the students are introduced with tools that allows them to change their perspective towards life and people in general. It is a proper training that prepares the practitioner to be a ThetaHealing Practitioner.

These courses will allow you to grow spiritually. By the end you will be equipped with tools to shift things from within for instance eliminating old negative patterns and programs, create a life that you love and value, heal not only yourself but others as well. Some students choose to enroll in these seminars to work on themselves, some take the path of healing others along with healing themselves. it all depends on your choice

The Classes are based on lectures in which the students are taught the Theta meditation to connect to the 7th Plane, to the energy of the Creator of All that is. In order to practice ThetaHealing it is important to understand the concepts behind the technique. Theta Meditation is the base of this course, which tells us how to connect to the energy source and explore our inner beliefs and patterns. All the courses are a mix of Theory and practice. The theory that the students learn in the first four foundation courses (Basic DNA, Advanced DNA, Dig Deeper, You and the Creator) forms the foundation of the rest of the seminars.

In practice, the students are taught how to go in to Theta state and work on themselves, explore their inner patterns and beliefs through the process of digging. In ThetaHealing practice is the key, the more we practice going into a Theta state, the better our connection to the Creator.

How to Choose a Theta Healer and/or an Instructor?

  1. This technique is all about practice. The experience of the practitioner is the main thing. I have had students in my classes, who had taken just a few courses but they practice daily and thus their intuition and their connection to the Creator was sharp. Therefore, a practitioner who has taken 4 courses can be as good as someone who has taken 12 courses. It all depends on the practice and experience with the technique.
  2. Always go with the energy of the practitioner/instructor. Most of the ThetaHealing practitioners/Instructors offer free resources– workshops, guided meditations, webinars, few minutes’ free call option. If you are not sure who to choose, take advantage of this option and connect with the Theta Healer with the intention to choose the one you need.
  3. With online classes and healing sessions, there are unlimited healing opportunities. Ask yourself what do you need right now.
  4. Make sure that the ThetaHealer follows an ethical and moral code of conduct.

What to Expect After ThetaHealing Class/Session?

In a session and/or class belief systems are released and replaced layer by layer. After the first layers are removed, you might notice that deeper health/emotional issues will appear as they now have space to surface and be released. You are always in control of whether to let go or hold on! My suggestion would be to choose to let go of what is no longer serving you.

Sometimes people do feel tired and require extra rest after a ThetaHealing class/session. If you are experiencing any discomfort, please know that this is a part of the process . Drink more water, keep yourself hydrated. It is important to listen to and honor your body. In case of any medical emergency please contact your primary doctor and take your medicines as required.

After a session, emotions might come up and when they do, acknowledge them, feel them, express them and release them if they are not in your highest and best. DO NOT ENGAGE in the old story behind the emotion. Allow yourself to feel the emotion, then take a deep breath. As you do this, think of EVERYTHING you are grateful for and continue this for several minutes. With a ThetaHealing experience, your energy will be super high, and you must take steps in the right direction to sustain that high level of energy.

Difference Between Reiki and ThetaHealing

People who are aware of reiki, often ask me the difference between the two modalities and which technique is better. While I am not a qualified reiki practitioner, however, I can give an answer based on my experience and knowledge on energy healing modalities.

Reiki energizes the body’s chakras with the energy of the universe. This modality is about creating a balance in the body, the body takes the energy that it needs to heal. Reiki practitioner channels the universal energy into the client’s body that facilitate the healing.

An image of different gems and crystals kept together on a wooden table

If we talk about ThetaHealing, it is based on conscious and unconscious beliefs that has an impact on our emotional and physical wellbeing. During a ThetaHealing session, the client with the help of a qualified practitioner uncovers the negative limiting beliefs and work on replacing them with positive beliefs. This change takes place by activating the Theta brain waves using a focused, visual meditation and prayer.

While both Reiki and ThetaHealing are energy healing technique, the approach to witness healing is different. Can we say one is better than the other? Not really. Both have their own effectiveness depending upon the needs of the client. Sometimes clients use both Reiki and ThetaHealing for their emotional and physical wellbeing. It depends on what you need at the moment.

Can You Do ThetaHealing on Yourself?

Absolutely! ThetaHealing is a self-healing modality. It gives you tools to identify your patterns and to go deeper into your issues by asking the right questions. The more you practice, the better you get at using the technique.

Does ThetaHealing Really Work?

This is another frequently asked question and the way I answer it is like this: if you apply what you learn and put the teachings into practice, you can make very big changes in your life. This is a process of co-creation where we strengthen our spiritual bond with the Creator to create the changes that we need. The key to this sentence is YOU can make a difference and it all starts with YOUR CHOICE.

I as a ThetaHealing practitioner and an Instructor can never take credit for changing anyone’s life. I am here as a facilitator to support my clients and students in their journey towards personal transformation. If you as co-creator are not ready to practice the technique, and make changes in your daily life patterns, then learning the modality or taking a session might not be helpful. Having said that, it is true that buying a ThetaHealing book, attending a live ThetaHealing class, taking a session can be a catalyst for change, and by taking this initial step you can begin your transformative journey that can take you towards a new life.

An image of a man whose face especially lips and eyes are covered with post it notes that says society, expectations, norms, showing how sometimes we are unable to speak our truth and close our eyes due to external factors

Do Clients Need Many Sessions?

Theta Healing is extremely effective and in some cases the healings are instant. However, every client is different. Depending on the needs of the clients and where they are in their healing journey, there can be multiple sessions. The sessions are always based on the needs of the clients and number of sessions are not fixed.
